November 17 New blog siteSo I changed my blog site for those of you who actually read it. It is now: thejmitchellfamily.blogspot.com
I hope to keep that one a little more updated and I made the address a little easier to remember. So go and visit and let me know what you think! September 30 FuneralSo my grandma died a week ago today. Her funeral was on monday. It was strange. She was the last living grandparent I had. It was a good thing she passed, she was in a lot of pain there at the end and she was kind of losing it. Don't feel sad for me, because I don't. Not to be heartless, but I really didn't feel like she was my grandma in the way that a grandma should be. Does that make sense? She was my grandmother because she was my mother's mother, that's about it.
I'm more greatful that my mother can get on with her life now. She took care of all my grandparents, including my dad's parents. For some reason this was the place they came to die. Which is strange because my parents are converts and they, at least my mom's parents, didn't really like that my parents became "Mormons". So my mom had to put up with a lot of negative behavior directed towards her. And she did it with love and her head held high!
I just want all to know out there how much I love my mom. She has done more for others, and put up with more from others, than I can imagine. She is a wonderful woman and I'm glad that she was strong enough to stand up for what she believed in! She has shown Christ-like love to those who might not have deserved it (so say I) and she is the type of person I want to be some day!
I love you mom! Thanks for all you have given me and shown me! September 17 LifeFor those of you who actually read my blog, I apologize for the absence. I guess that I just assumed that most everybody that read my blog was on Facebook so they would just get all my updates from there.
This summer has been interesting, to say the least. It's been hot like summer usually is. But it has also been really rainy, which is wierd, good, but wierd. We have been doing ok. I 've been through 2 jobs this year and am currently not working. One job I also had years ago hust wasn't giving me enough hours. Then I moved on to Maverik (yes, the gas station) which was great for a little while until all the drama popped up. I know that you have drama pretty much with any job you have, but that and the fact that I never go to see Joey for longer than 10 minutes a day and I would get home late, be wide awake and then not go to sleep till even later. Not a good combo for me! So, now I am at home with my boys and, soon to be, girl!
Yes, I am pregnant and we are having a girl!! Let's just say that I am a little excited. Ok, a lot excited and nervous at the same time. I'm not due until December so I have a little while to get used to the fact, but it still makes me wonder how I will be with a girl. Noah is too funny. He wanted the baby to be a boy, but now he keeps telling everyone that he has a baby sister. Also when I say to get something for him and Elias he says, "And one for baby sister too". Too funny!
Speaking of Noah....he has been most of my excitement for the summer. Let me back up a little. To start our new life in Wyoming he left Utah with 7 stitches in his head! Not much really happened to him besides the typical bumps and scrapes until we went camping in July. We go camping for a week with my whole family every summer and this year EVERYONE showed up! We also had some friends that came for a few days as well. So that added up to 40+ people and it made it a little hard to keep track of everyone, but nothing too major happened until my birthday. Noah and his cousin, Ada, got lost on the mountain.......FOR 4 HOURS!!! I have to tell you that those were the longest, scariest, and hardest hours of my life! They were eventually found by my brother, Jason, without a scratch almost 2 MILES from camp. Don't ask me how two 3-year-olds went that far without hurting themselves or being found by wildlife, but I know that Heavenly Father was watching them. He had angels with them and He answered our prayers! I still start to cry every time I think or talk about it.
So if that wasn't enough, Noah then broke his arm about 3 weeks ago! Right before he was going to start his first year at preschool. He hit his brother and I told him to go to his room and........let's just say that kids really do hurt themselves when they throw a hard enough fit! I told him that he has to stop taking after his mommy (I broke my arm falling out of a tree when I was 4). Then a few days later he started running a fever of 104 and was throwing up. He then, of course, passed that lovely little bug onto Elias. Fortunately it only last for a few days, but he was one miserable little man for those few days. Sometimes I wonder why I had kids.......
Also this summer we got a cat......... and then a dog. Our kitty is named Zoey, but I think that I've posted stuff about her already. Well, she was cute and fun and cudly then..........she is rotten and mean and very fiesty now!! She will purr and rub on your leg, but you pet her for a few minutes and she starts growling and bitting and clawing! Well, then we got a dog. He's sort of a dog. He's a schnoodle, aka schnauzer-poodle mix, named Jack. He is all black and fuzzy and cute and not very big and doesn't shed and is hypo-allergenic. He's now just a little bit bigger than the cat (which she hates). He loves the kitty and she has finally "warmed" up to him. Which means she will play with him without trying to hurt him too bad. They are cute! He is completely attatched to me and I can't even leave the room without him following me. It's endearing, but a little annoying sometimes.
Life is hectic and busy, but good. I got a calling (I was going to say 'new calling', but since this is the 1st one in this ward I took out the 'new' part) and am the vice-chair person on the parent council for Noah's preschool. Joey works and then usually goes golfing with my dad after work. (Golf memberships are CHEAP here, but I have been regretting that we got it for most of the summer!) Elias is getting bigger every day. He is really starting to talk a lot more lately and still falls down all the time. He is a clutz! He takes after me in that area as well, the poor kid! I think that he was born just to pester Noah and he delights in it a little more than he should. But what are kid brothers for anyway?!? Ok, I think that is enough for one blog post! I hope that you stuck through it until the end. Adios!
PS- I might change my blog site. I think I might go over to blogspot, cuz this blog site is rather boring as far as appearances go. I will let you know. May 29 It's been......So it has been quite a long time since I posted anything on here. I'm not een sure if anyone even checks it anymore. We shall see......
We had a great Memorial Day weekend. We went to Salt Lake to see my new nephew! He is adorable! I would post pictures on here, but I am pretty sure that most of you have already seen them on Facebook. Maybe I will put some on here later. It was so neat to see Sarah (my sister-in-law) with a baby! She is such a great mommy and her husband was just enthrawled with both of them!
We also got to see some of our wonderful friends that we miss dearly! We love you guys and thanks for being true friends!
We got to see Grandma Mitchell as well. Noah was so excited to see her! He talks about going to her house all the time and we have to tell him that we live too far away from her to just go and visit really quick. That doensn't discourage him though, he will always talk about her and want to show her stuff.
Things here in Lovell are good. Getting really hot, which is great because our garden is finally growing! All but 2 things have sprouted. Those that haven't are in soil that is a little sandier than the rest of the garden so we will see. I desperatly need to go out there and weed it! But like I said, it's been hot and I haven't gotten the motivation to go out there early in the morning. I also need to buy a hoe. (I know, yada yada yada, excuses excuses......)
I miss Salt Lake (mostly the people that live there), but I love having quiet, a house, a garden, a yard, cheap things to do (maybe not so many as SLC, but lots cheaper). I can't wait until we go camping for a week in July and don't have to drive 8 hours here and back and have to borrow laundry facillities after. *sigh* April 28 A night at the moviesTo give a little background first.......
My town has one movie theater that plays only one movie at a time. This beautiful building was built in 1950 and is in beautiful condition. When my family moved here in 1988 it was running and playing movies every weekend. Well, that changed not too many years after that. The owner came to realize that the building has an old heating and electrical system that is expensive to use. And that it was getting to be a quite a pain maintaining it with all the kids that went to watch the movies. So she shut it down, for years.
People in my town would have to drive 20 miles if they wanted to see a movie in the theater. Which is no big deal since they are used to driving distances to get things they need. But in recent years some have wondered why the theater here doesn't open up again.
A wonderful woman got a brilliant idea. Why not see if we can submit this building into the historical society so that we can get some funding to help fix some problems. Well, she did and it now is on the historical buildings list. She also thought that to save some more money why not get the community involved and ask people to volunteer to work at the theater. So she did and it has been running this way for the last couple of years. There is one movie that plays and only on Friday and Saturday (sometimes Monday). And none of the movies are rated "R". Isn't that awesome?!?
Well, I volunteered to work this last Saturday night and "Monsters vs. Aliens" was playing. I had Joey take the boys since Noah wanted to see it and it was the last showing. Well, I sold candy and popcorn and soda, and it was a blast! So when the final customer was helped and the movie was about to start I was told that for helping I got to watch the movie for free and get whatever size soda and popcorn I wanted!! Awesome!! Just one more reason I love this town!
It also made me feel good because Joey was mad that I volunteered to work and had worked all day at my job. And when I showed up with free soda and popcorm, boy was he happy!! So, who wants to move?
PS- There is a picture in my photo album on here that shows the theater. It's called "The Hyartt". |
